The Book of Revelation, Series 1-10 of 22

The Book of Revelation :  Back to the Future, Part 1

The Truth Barista and Amazing Larry start on a remarkable new series on the Book of Revelation! You may have already heard strange teachings about the Revelation of Jesus Christ and found it confusing. But get ready for new insights from a Jewish background that unlocks this astonishing prophecy about the future.

The Book of Revelation :  Back to the Future, Part 2

The Truth Barista and Amazing Larry continue their crucial introduction to the Book of Revelation. The Truth Barista shares the situation of the seven Asia Minor Messianic Congregations relating to 1st Century Judaism and the rising persecution of the Roman Empire.

The Book of Revelation :  Back to the Future, Part 3

The Truth Barista and Amazing Larry tackle God’s stated purpose for the Book of Revelation – “The revelation of Jesus Christ that God gave Him to show His servants what must soon take place.” (Revelation 1:1) Are your eyes open to see Jesus as Revelation’s puzzle pieces come together?

The Book of Revelation :  Back to the Future, Part 4

The Truth Barista and Amazing Larry cover Revelation 1:4-8, where John reveals deep truths about God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and how Jesus sets us free from our bondage to sin by taking our punishment as our substitute.

The Book of Revelation :  Back to the Future, Part 5

Again, we see how John’s Revelation echoes Old Testament scriptures! To figure out what Revelation 1:6-8 is saying about us, the Truth Barista  takes us back to Genesis 1-2 and other Old Testament verses to explain what it means to be God’s king and priest. The Truth Barista also explains Jesus’ appearance as the mysterious Son of Man in Revelation 1:7-20.

The Book of Revelation :  Back to the Future, Part 6

The Truth Barista and Amazing Larry dive into Jesus’ corrective words to His seven primary congregations in Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey), Revelation 2:1-11. The Ephesus congregation’s lesson is, “Do we serve the Lord of the work or the work of the Lord? Have we lost our love for Jesus? No love = no life.” Jesus’ message to the Smyrna congregation? “I know what you’re going through. It’s going to continue, but hang in there! I’m with you and will carry you through to eternal life!”

The Book of Revelation :  Back to the Future, Part 7

What happens when you lose your love for Jesus? You find that it’s easier to compromise God’s standards, adding and subtracting from His Word. Given time, compromise easily births corruption. The Truth Barista and Amazing Larry talk about Pergamum – The Compromising Church, and Thyatira – The Corrupt Church, and how to avoid falling into compromise and corruption.

The Book of Revelation :  Back to the Future, Part 8

Although Jesus’ messages to the churches in Asia Minor were for that day and what was coming their way, His messages continue to ring to our day. In Revelation 2:18-29, Jesus convicts Thyatira as the corrupt church that tolerated sin. The message to us is, “Are we slowly being corrupted by tolerating sin in our lives?”

The Book of Revelation :  Back to the Future, Part 9

Given enough time, corruption leads to death. Sardis is the spiritually dead church, a Dead Church Walking, which Jesus addresses in Revelation 3:1-6. As a spiritual salvage operation, Jesus commands them to find what’s still alive and nurture it. On the other hand, Jesus commends the Philadelphia congregation for their outstanding life and faithfulness. What a contrast!

The Book of Revelation :  Back to the Future, Part 10

Jesus speaks to the Good-For-Nothing lukewarm Laodicean congregation. His final word to the seven churches is a stark rebuke to any church that thinks it needs nothing, especially Jesus. Sadly, this applies to many indifferent Christians and congregations today. Jesus’ corrective words still apply – “be zealous and repent!”
