So, I was writing a summary about my trek through the Book of Matthew. I reach the end of the summary and I misspell the Great Commission.
‘The Great Gomission’
Yup. ‘G’ was a little too anxious.
And yet, ‘G’ revealed a truth. Jesus' Great Go-Mission is:
"Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age." (Matthew 28)
We are to GO and make disciples. That means we are to take the Good News made flesh in us; salvation applied to our lives with Godliness forming us to look like Jesus and present it to the world. It's up to them whether they want it or not.
We are to GO and reach people who don't know the One True God and show them through our words and actions.
We are to GO and engage those who embrace Jesus' work on their behalf and teach them what God says about how He wants us to live and impress on them that God does not make Godly living an option for His disciples.
We are to GO knowing that we're not doing this alone. As the disciples were with Jesus as He went throughout Israel preaching, teaching, healing, raising the dead, and doing miracles, so He is with us today.
We are to GO not as leading Jesus in this ‘going’ but in the same manner as when His feet touched earth … following Him as He led.
It truly is the Great Go-Mission. And unless you plan to cloister yourself forever, your Go-Mission field is one step out your front door … every spot you place your feet.
Now Go …
