Satan’s God-Man Counterfeit

“Jesus replied, ‘I have shown you many good works from the Father. For which of these works are you stoning me?’ (Jewish leaders): ‘We aren’t stoning you for a good work,’ the Jews answered, ‘but for blasphemy, because you—being a man—make yourself God.’” (John 10:32-33)
“(Jesus said,) ‘Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day; he saw it and was glad.’ The (Jewish leaders) replied, ‘You aren’t fifty years old yet, and you’ve seen Abraham?’ Jesus said to them, ‘Truly I tell you, before Abraham was, I am.’ So they picked up stones to throw at him. But Jesus was hidden and went out of the temple.” (John 8:56-59)
“Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way. For that day will not come unless the apostasy comes first and the man of lawlessness (the Antichrist) is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. He opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he sits in God’s temple, proclaiming that he himself is God.” (2 Thessalonians 2:3-4)
Satan has no original ideas.
Seriously.
Jesus was born to accomplish His Father’s plan of salvation (Matthew 1:21). His conception and birth are announced to Mary and Joseph by an angel (Luke 1:26-38; Matthew 1:18-25). His resurrection is announced by an angel (Matthew 28:1-10). His future return is announced by an angel when He departs (Acts 1:9-11). And His return will be accompanied by an angelic shout (1 Thessalonians 4:16).
So, what does the Prince of Darkness do to try to muck things up?
First, about six hundred years later, an “angel” masquerading as Gabriel (a demon or ol’ Satan himself) appeared to a man named Muhammad and bear-hugged him into becoming Allah’s “prophet.” Really. I’m not kidding about the bear-hug. “The angel said to him: (recite), and the Prophet said: I am not a reciter, whereupon the angel embraced him so tightly that he reached the limit of his pain. Then, the angel released him and again said: ‘Recite!’ The Holy Prophet replied: ‘I am not a reciter’. Again, the angel embraced him so tightly that he reached the limit of his pain threshold” (muhammadencyclopedia.com, italics author). See? I told you. But the point is that wasn’t Gabriel, because the genuine Gabriel wouldn’t misrepresent the One True God known as Yehovah (Exodus 3:16, 9:15).
Secondly, about 1,800 years later, Joseph Smith was visited by the “angel” Moroni in 1822. The supposed angel told him of a stack of gold plates (sheets, not dishes), upon which were inscribed the words of the Book of Mormon, which was eventually “translated” via a “seer stone” and published in 1830 (origins.osu.edu). I’ll bet you a stale donut and a cuppa church coffee that the strange angel weren’t the real McCoy…I mean, Gabriel.
I’m reminded of the Apostle Paul’s admonition to the Galatians, “But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, a curse be on him!” (Galatians 1:8, italics author). Paul’s words do not bode well for the fake angel “Gabriel” and the Muslims, and the fake angel “Moroni” and the Mormons.
After studying End Times scriptures and theology, I firmly believe the final Antichrist empire will be a reborn Islamic empire. Isn’t it interesting that Satan used a counterfeit Gabriel to introduce a religion that would become the very antithesis of the one revealed by our Savior, whose conception was announced by the genuine Gabriel?
Genuine vs. counterfeit.
Here’s another illustration. After a flaming experience at the burning bush, Moses appeared before Pharaoh, demanding that he let Yehovah’s people go. Pharaoh countered by demanding a miraculous sign. Not to disappoint the hard-hearted Pharaoh, Moses backed up his fiery demand by having his brother, Aaron, throw down his staff, which became a serpent. Now here’s the interesting part that most Sunday School-level Christians miss—Pharaoh’s Satan-serving minions did the same thing. “But then Pharaoh called the wise men and sorcerers—the magicians of Egypt, and they also did the same thing by their occult practices. Each one threw down his staff, and it became a serpent” (Exodus 7:11-12a). Satan used a counterfeit miracle to discredit God’s genuine miracle. Thus, Satan tried to obscure the trustworthy source of the first miracle and make himself appear as powerful as Yehovah Almighty, and prevent a deliverance from the kingdom of darkness from happening. For you see, Israel had to be delivered from Egypt to continue God’s plan to produce as God-Man who would be salvation in the flesh.
And now, the rest of the story. “But Aaron’s staff swallowed their staffs” (Exodus 7:12b). In my child-like mind, I hear Aaron whispering under his breath, “Nyah-nyah. Top that, losers.”
Once again, genuine vs. counterfeit.
In light of the current Christmas season, I have a final illustration. This one is a “was and is” and a “will be” comparison.
The “was and is” refers to Jesus’ genuine nature. He is the God-Man, fully human and fully divine at the same time. He is a person who is unique in all dimensions, spiritual and physical. I know some are hard-hearted like Pharaoh, or spiritually darkened, or willing Bible truth-deniers, but Jesus, as a human man, really did claim to be God. True, there is no record in the Bible of Jesus saying, “Hey y’all, I’m God” in the way we would want. But if you are familiar with the Gospels’ contexts, it’s clear.
Here are some examples you can read on the subject at gotquestions.org. “Take, for example, the words of Jesus in John 10:30, “I and the Father are one.” We need only to look at the Jews’ reaction to His statement to know He was claiming to be God. They tried to stone Him for this very reason: “You, a mere man, claim to be God” (John 10:33, emphasis added). The Jews understood exactly what Jesus was claiming—deity. When Jesus declared, “I and the Father are one,” He was saying that He and the Father are of one nature and essence. John 8:58 is another example. Jesus declared, “Very truly I tell you... before Abraham was born, I am!” This is a reference to Exodus 3:14 when God revealed Himself as “I AM.” The Jews who heard Jesus’ statement understood that He was applying God’s name to Himself. They responded by taking up stones to kill Him for blasphemy, believing they were following the Mosaic Law (see Leviticus 24:16)” (gotquestions.org/is-Jesus-God.html)
There you have it. Jesus claimed to be God. His followers declared Him to be God, and Jesus didn’t deny it. Jesus is the God-man. He’s unique. There is no one like Him.
But someone will try to be. That’s the “will be” counterfeit to come at the End, just before the genuine God-man returns.
Paul said that in the End, just before Jesus returns, “that day will not come unless the apostasy comes first and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. He opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he sits in God’s temple, proclaiming that he himself is God” (2 Thessalonians 2:3-4, italics author). Yeah, Paul is talking about Super Antichrist Boogeyman.
Here’s the conundrum. If I’m right about Islam being the counterfeit religion that seeks to impose itself upon all of humanity as part of a global kingdom of darkness, will the head of that empire, the Caliph, proclaim himself to be God? After all, Islam is huge on “There is no god but Allah,” so it doesn’t make sense for Allah and the Caliph/Antichrist to both be a god, does it?
Newsflash! There are already rumblings within the Islamic world that Turkey’s President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, claims divine status. “(He shrouds) himself with the attributes of God or Allah. Erdogan’s subservient inner circle reinforces that self-aggrandizing and exaggerated view of himself by claiming that he has divine powers” (Erdogan Is Said to Have Divine Attributes: “Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely”, oragark.com).
The original article is Turkey’s president suffers from a God complex, revered for attributes belonging to Allah and the Prophet (nordicmonitor.com), which asserts, “A collection of God and prophet-like public praises uttered by and for Turkey’s strongman, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, offers a glimpse into the psychological state of a leader who believes he possesses superior abilities and apparently suffers from a God complex… His inflated view of his abilities and infallibility, coupled with the presence of yes-men surrounding him, reinforces his narcissistic personality and shores up his superiority complex. He considers himself the Caliph, the leader of the entire Muslim community worldwide, and therefore believes he deserves special consideration.”
Let’s see, a genuine God-Man who came to serve His people, even unto death, by surrendering His life so any person could find eternal life, versus a narcissistic, egotistical, deluded counterfeit god-man who wants everyone to serve him, which could mean your life is on the line if you refuse to submit to Islam and its official Caliph.
There’s a big difference between what’s genuine and counterfeit, and it seems clear.
Why would Satan do this? I can guess for two reasons: 1) To discredit the One True God and His words, 2) to obscure the trustworthy source of the original God-man and make himself appear as powerful as Yehovah Almighty, and prevent a deliverance from the kingdom of darkness from happening.
It’s fascinating to see how Satan counterfeits what God has done, and that he knows enough about God’s prophecies that he has set up an alternate religion over 1,400 years ago to challenge Yehovah’s returning God-Man at the End, and prevent the One True God from reestablishing His earthly kingdom.
Satan wants his kingdom with his god-man. Yehovah will have His kingdom with His God-Man.
It does not bode well for Satan, Islam, or the Super Antichrist boogeyman.
